Hymn Reflection #13–I Know That My Redeemer Liveth

1. I know that my Redeemer liveth,
And on the earth again shall stand;
I know eternal life He giveth,
That grace and power are in His hand.

I know, I know that Jesus liveth,
And on the earth again shall stand;
I know, I know that life He giveth,
That grace and power are in His hand.

2. I know His promise never faileth,
The word He speaks, it cannot die;
Tho’ cruel death my flesh assaileth,
Yet I shall see Him by and by.

3. I know my mansion He prepareth,
That where He is there I may be;
Oh, wondrous thought, for me He careth,
And He at last will come for me.

Aren’t you glad we can know that our Redeemer lives? He died on the cross, and rose the third day and after He had seen His disciples He ascended up to His Father. But He promised to come back for us someday. Isn’t that a glorious thought?

In the book of Job, which is the oldest book in the Bible, he acknowledged our Redeemer. Job 19:25.  “For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth.” I think it is amazing that Job said that so many years before Jesus was ever born. That confirms what Jesus said in the New Testament that blessed are those who haven’t even seen me but they believe in me. Job knew that there was a God and he knew that the Messiah would eventually come. God always keeps His promises. Grace and power is in His hand. And no matter what comes our way we shall see Him by and by if we have put our trust in God. And repented of our sins. He has built a beautiful place for us. More beautiful than we can ever imagine. Then the wondrous thought that He cares for me and for you. We can have the assurance if we just let Him have control.

I hope this hymn can be a blessing to you today. The original Morley’s had this song arranged and we used it in our Spring Programs.

I know that my Redeemer Lives!
