Hymn Reflection #18- Come Unto Me

Words: Matthew 11:28-30

Music: Larry Nickel

Come unto me if youโ€™re weak and laden. Iโ€™ll give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me. For My yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Such a simple command. Such beautiful promises. So few words needed to convey the hope that our God can give. This title came popping out at me and I wanted to share it with you. Just listen to this recording. It gives me the goosebumps every time. I really love the simplicity of it. That is what God wants from us. To just give him our burdens and He Will Give us REST. When we are weak and laden He wants to comfort us and help us rest in Him.

Sometimes people think that being a Christian is too hard. My opinion would be that there is a aspect that seems hard. Giving up what we want to do to do what’s right. But if we truly love God with all of our hearts it won’t matter what He is asking us to give up. And if we yield to God His peace and joy will be in our hearts and we won’t notice. But what does Jesus say here. My yoke is easy and My burden is light. Of course, that doesn’t mean that we won’t have trials or storms in our life. But if we have Jesus we can weather those storms with joy and complete peace because we know who is in control. I am still learning this lesson so I am preaching to myself.

Please just trust God when He says He will give you rest. Learn of Him. Let Him have His way. You will be surprised at what He can do with you. I hope you have been encouraged. I have certainly been. God Bless!
