Our dearest Lois Verlee Kasten Blowers, born in Lum, MI September 29, 1927, passed smiling into the arms of Jesus when her heart failed at Penn Highlands Dubois Hospital on Friday, July 12, 2019.

She lived unselfishly, with loving and devoted service to her Lord, her husband of 68 years, her family, students and all the lives she encountered. She was teacher and mom to many, beginning her first year in an Illinois one-room schoolhouse. The majority of her teaching years was in Campbell, NY. She was greatly loved and cherished by all who knew her, including her doctors and nurses through many hospitalizations.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Allan Blowers, and eldest daughter and caregiver, Rebecca E. (Blowers) Harvey, both of Punxsutawney, PA; eldest son, Donald E. and Pam (Fugate) Blowers, of Monroe, NC and their 3 children: Samuel and Jessica (Nelson) Blowers, Matthew and Kayla (Saunders) Blowers, and daughter Sara; daughter, Anita Lois (Blowers) and Elon Morley, of Mifflinburg, PA, and their 4, Amaris, Ezra, Lois Pearl, Jed and Rosalie (Meadows) Morley with the only great-grandchild, Kari Rose; son, Stephen P. and Pamela (Waud) Blowers, of Estonia, Europe, and their 8, Agape, Daniel, Esther, Benjamin, Ethan, Anna, Abigail, Elisabeth. Also their “adopted” son, Thomas and Kate Dieffenbacher, of Russia, and their 3, Abigail, Lois, and Thomas Jr. She is also survived by her 2 sisters of Michigan, Wilma Kasten (93), and Elaine Sanford (90) and is aunt and great-aunt many times over. The funeral will be held Friday, July 19, 2019, at 4 pm, with her brother-in-law Rev. David Blowers officiating and Rev. Rob Dicken assisting, at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. 312 Locust Street, Clearfield, PA 16830.

Friends and family will be received from 1-4 pm on Friday at the funeral home.

Eulogy:

Lois Verlee (Kasten) Blowers was born September 29, 1927, to parents William and Opal (Sollman) Kasten. She joined her big sister Wilma Vivian; little sister Joyce Elaine came two years later. They all began life int he stone house that their father William built in Lum, Michigan. In her early years she enjoyed sketching and painting. Lois attended Imlay City High School, graduating in 1946. She went on to study at Spring Arbor Junior College for two years, completing the last two years at Greenville, IL, in 1951.

Lois came to know the Lord at an early age when she was saved in a revival meeting in 1935. She has always been an old fashioned Free Methodist, developing the practice of daily Bible Reading which she continued till her death.

She met Donald Blowers at Greenville College. They were married on June 15th, 1951. Four children blessed their home- Rebecca, Don E., Anita and Stephen. They were blessed with 15 grandchildren and one great-grandaughter. Don and Lois celebrated their 68th anniversary this year.

Grandma Lois excelled as a mother and teacher. Her teaching career spanned 20+ years in NY State schools, King’s Academy in FL, and later at a mission school in Snowflake, AZ. She enjoyed crocheting, word search and jigsaw puzzles, flowers, bird watching and singing the old hymns.

Many rise up and call her blessed, remembering her cheerful dedication, bright smile, warmth of love and described her as a mom to all. She went to be with her Lord and Savior after her generous heart failed on Friday, July 12, 2019.
