Hymn Reflection #10 Jesus Lover of My Soul

  • Jesus, lover of my soul,
    Let me to Thy bosom fly,
    While the nearer waters roll,
    While the tempest still is high.
    Hide me, O my Savior, hide,
    Till the storm of life is past;
    Safe into the haven guide;
    Oh, receive my soul at last.
  • Other refuge have I none,
    Hangs my helpless soul on Thee;
    Leave, ah! leave me not alone,
    Still support and comfort me.
    All my trust on Thee is stayed,
    All my help from Thee I bring;
    Cover my defenseless head
    With the shadow of Thy wing.

  • Thou, O Christ, art all I want,
    More than all in Thee I find;
    Raise the fallen, cheer the faint,
    Heal the sick, and lead the blind.
    Just and holy is Thy Name,
    Source of all true righteousness;
    Thou art evermore the same,
    Thou art full of truth and grace.
  • Plenteous grace with Thee is found,
    Grace to cover all my sin;
    Let the healing streams abound;
    Make and keep me pure within.
    Thou of life the fountain art,
    Freely let me take of Thee;
    Spring Thou up within my heart;
    Rise to all eternity.

This song is one I have been really drawn to the past couple of weeks. I have a playlist of songs I listen to most nights and this was one that spoke to me. Jesus is our refuge, our rock and the place we can hide. We can fly to Him when the storms are raging, the trials are difficult, and the way seems so long.

Lord, help me to want only you. You are the source of all righteousness. The fountain of love, joy and peace. And Your grace is sufficient to cover my sins, and keeping me pure within. Spring up as a fountain in my heart. Thank you that you are Just and Holy. May Your name be glorified!

I know I need to continue learning these lessons of trust and letting God take control of the discouraging times. So I hope by reading this hymn you all are encouraged to keep on. Keep Jesus in the forefront of your minds and hearts.

Jesus Lover of My Soul, let me to Thy bosom fly!
