1. He leadeth me: O blessed thought!
O words with heavenly comfort fraught!
Whate’er I do, where’er I be,
Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me.

Refrain:
He leadeth me, he leadeth me;
By his own hand he leadeth me:
His faithful follower I would be,
For by his hand he leadeth me.

2. Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom,
Sometimes where Eden’s flowers bloom,
By waters calm, o’er troubled sea,
Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me.

3. Lord, I would clasp thy hand in mine,
Nor ever murmur nor repine;
Content, whatever lot I see,
Since ’tis my God that leadeth me.

4. And when my task on earth is done,
When, by thy grace, the victory’s won,
E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,
Since God through Jordan leadeth me.

This song really caught my attention especially since I have seen evidence of God’s hand working in my life just in the last week. Our God is so merciful and good to us. He leads us by the hand. He wants us to let Him have our hearts, and desires, dreams and wishes so that He can lead us.

Isn’t it a wondrous thought to think that whatever we do, wherever we are our God is leading us. Sometimes there will be pain, trouble or trials. Sometimes there will be joy and peace. But through it all we can see His hand leading us. Lord, I will clasp my hand in thine and help me to never murmur or complain. Help me be content with whatever lot befalls. Because my God you are leading me.

When our task on earth is done and when by God’s grace we can overcome and be victorious. Then we can know that God will lead us through the shadow of death. That we will not have to fear to cross over the Jordan. We will then see our Jesus. Isn’t that a glorious thought? Grandma Lois is basking in that sight of Jesus face. And may we be ready so we can go be with her and with our Jesus.

I pray that the words of this hymn can bless you today. I hope you can continue to find God’s rest and peace in anything that you are facing today. He Understands!

For by His Hand He Leadeth Me!
